Monday Mayhem – Getting It All Done

Yesterday I was taking to another mom about Mondays. We both agree that Mondays are the hardest day of the week. The reason is simple. Monday is recovery day.

I say Monday is recovery day because it is the day the house and I recover from having everyone home on Sunday. In our home Sunday is a family day. Our children are not allowed to play with friends. Consequently their entire day is spent at home. Which means that toys are distributed throughout the house from top to bottom and even find their way outside. In order to do dishes last night I collected six cups, two bowls, and three plates from around the house and outside.

Monday means that I have at least three loads of laundry to wash. There are bills to pay and my checkbook to balance (Yuck!). I have blogs to write. I need to clean up the house. I also need to prepare a dessert for Family Night tonight. That doesn’t include taking care of my three kids and trying to work in a time to exercise. This was the week I was going to start working out again (Yah right!). I also need to start reading the 500-page novel for my book club that meets next Tuesday. Seeing as I am supposed to be leading the discussion I really need to get it read.

Since I was out of town a few days last week I also need to go to the grocery store, pick up my contact prescription, sign my son up for swimming lessons (if there are still any openings left), and buy a birthday present for my mom and a friend (their birthdays are today).

The day is half over and most of the things on my list have not been accomplished yet. This means that they get bumped to Tuesday’s list. Which means Tuesday’s list has just grown considerably. Oh well, it’s just a typical Monday.
