Money Saving Product Review: KidCo Food Mill

Babies can be extremely expensive. We want to give our children the very best of everything, and we especially want them to have the best nourishment. If you have shied away from making your own baby food because you thought it would be too difficult, then you definitely haven’t tried the KidCo Food Mill.

The KidCo Food Mill is a small, portable mill used for turning everyday fruits, vegetables, and family dinners into baby-friendly entrees. You simply put soft foods into the chamber of the mill, reattach the top portion, and push down while you grind the food. The food comes out of a sieve at the top of the mill and can be served to baby with or without transferring it to another dish.

A year ago I purchased this product from a Babies R Us store for about ten dollars. The mill is also sold online through many different online stores. Check out these two links for a couple of the best online deals that I found:

The lowdown on using this product:

I loved using this product because it is small, lightweight, and easily transportable. You can grind baby’s food right at the dinner table. It is also convenient to transport the mill when you eat a meal away from home. This means you don’t have to bring special food for baby when you eat out. To make transporting the mill easier, KidCo now offers a product that comes with a carrying case.

The one drawback I found to using the mill was that sometimes I really had to push down hard to get the food ground. This made it a little more difficult to use. For this reason, whenever I was making a large batch of baby food to freeze for later I would use a blender or food processor. I would then run the food through the mill to make sure there were no chunks left that might choke the baby. I still thought the extra work was worth the money I saved.

The KidCo mill made it simple for me to prepare quick meals for my baby. This product is a money-saving tool. Baby food is so expensive! There really is nothing special or unique to peas that are made for baby or those bought in a can or frozen, so long as you buy products with no added ingredients or salt.

When my son was just starting to eat baby foods, I would thin out the fruit and vegetables that I ground for him in the mill. For allergy reasons, baby food companies do this with water. I was able to use breast milk or prepared formula to thin my son’s foods. It made me feel good knowing that I was adding even more nutrients to his baby food than the jarred variety could offer.

If you are the parent of an infant, you have got to try this product. You’ll love it, and you’ll save a lot of cash using it!
