More Fun With Water Coloring

In December, our very own Teresa McEntire reviewed Aqua Doodle products in her article, “Aqua Doodle Products Great for Young Children”. As you can see in her article, Aqua Doodle products are great for kids, and makes no mess. The “pens” are full of water and only work on the mat. Once the water dries, the picture goes away and you can reuse the mat as many times as you like.

Taking on the Aqua Doodle idea, “Giddy Up” has developed a small book series where the pages get colored in by water. Each book comes with a water pen. Each page is engineered to only be colored in with the water pen, and it really is amazing. When applied, the water makes a blank page into a colorful masterpiece (at least as far as pre-schoolers go). Like Aqua Doodle, this book also erases itself as it dries, and is reusable.

The nice thing about these books is that the pages flip up over spiral binding, and it’s sturdy enough to sit on your child’s lap, which makes it ideal for road trips, or on an airplane. They also have different themes including “Hello Kitty”, “Spongebob”, “Barbie”, “The Fairly Odd Parents”, “Blue’s Clues”, “Rugrats” and the ever popular “Dora the Explorer” just to name a few. The other really neat thing about these books is that they do have questions on each coloring page asking your child to count the number of fish, or to find the matches.

It really holds your child’s attention, and you can actually let them color without standing over them to make sure they do not paint the walls (I’ve actually cleaned up magic marker before). I even colored a few pages and had a blast!
