Your husband has just graduated from college, or he has been offered the promotion of a lifetime, and you are so excited to take it. You know what it is coming: A move! Depending on your outlook you may be dancing up and down for joy for the chance to do something new or you might already be missing your old ward. As difficult as a move can be, your transition can be made easier with help from your new ward.
One great thing about the church is the centralized programs and curriculum. This means that every week, every ward is teaching the same Sunday School, and Primary lessons. I have talked to people, who are not LDS, who have struggled to find a new church that fit their beliefs and lifestyle. It is great because we don’t have to look. No matter where you go throughout the world, the church is the same. You just need to figure out what new ward you are in, and attend the meetings on Sunday. It can be comforting to know that your lessons will stay the same whether you live in Utah or New York.
Your ward can also be a great resource to you. Every time I’ve moved, I’ve asked ward members to recommend doctors and other services to me. I know that I can trust the opinions of my friends because of the standards that we share. You can also find out about local schools and the best neighborhoods to buy in. In fact, you can find most of this out before you move by calling your new Relief Society President.
I’ve been grateful when I have moved to know that no matter where we go, the church will always be there. It is comforting to know that even when we travel that we can find a local branch, and partake of the Sacrament each Sunday. I am grateful that the church is worldwide, and that we can partake of the blessings of church attendance no matter where we are.
