My Frugal Confession

It seems that I should have written this blog a long time ago, to dispel any myths or confusion about my frugal life. I love frugal living, and I love finding ways to save money and reuse things. Do I do it all the time? Let’s find out.

My confession for all of you, is that I am not the most frugal person. In fact, my articles probably make me sound like a totally frugal person, but there are plenty of things I am not frugal on. Yes, I use coupons. Do I ever forget to bring them and purchase the things I need without them? Yes. Not very frugal.

I always shop sales but do I pick up things that are not on sale? Yes, I do and yes, that means I pay full price occasionally.

I reuse anything and everything I can – do I sometimes throw away egg cartons, cans and milk jugs? Yes, I do and I even sometimes get rid of old furniture that totally could have a new use in our home.

I trade between friends as often as I can, and am very quick to snatch up any hand me downs someone offers, but do I go out and buy that totally cute outfit I saw on the rack for my daughter? Yes, I do – and I paid full price!

I go to garage sales regularly, and I even host my own to make some extra cash and get rid of what we don’t need. Do I buy everything I own at a garage sale? No, of course not.

I do own a freezer so I can stock up on sales and good deals, but do I always fill the freezer up with sale items? Nope. Sometimes I pay full price for steaks and chicken breasts.

And while I do freezer cook as often as I can, I don’t always. Sometimes we have to eat out because we have no time for me to prepare a meal, and sometimes I have to throw together a meal that I just purchased at the grocery store ten minutes ago because I was out of whatever it was I needed to prepare it.

And that my friends, is my frugal confession. Now, onto your regularly scheduled frugal living articles where I can make you all think I am the frugal queen again.
