Struggling about choosing a baby name? If you live in southern Italy, your choice might be profitable. That is because for residents of five villages in the Basilicata region of Italy, naming your baby after Mussolini or his wife will get you 1,500 euros, or the equivalent of about $1900.
In case you need a little brushing up on your history, Benito Mussolini was a wartime facist dictator that is much admired by the far-right party. It is that party that wishes to get the names Benito and Rachele, Mussolini’s wife, back into circulation and pay homage to the roots of the party.
The bonus applies only to those specific villages (where birth rates are low) and for babies born in 2009.
Baby Accidentally Flushed on a Train
A baby fell into the toilet bowl opening as her mother accidentally gave birth in the restroom of a train traveling from TaiDong to TaiPei, China. The baby was born and then accidentally flushed down the toilet where she got stuck in the pipe.
Rescue workers waited at the next station, which was more than an hour away. The mother was sent directly to the hospital while the rescue workers tried to extract the baby. The baby started to fade which prompted the workers to saw the pipe in half to get the baby out. She weighed in at 6 pounds and 6 ounces and is now doing well.
Baby’s Plastic Surgery Book
