National Scrapbooking Day

Today, Saturday May 3, 2008 is National Scrapbooking Day. NSD as it is affectionately referred to was first created by the International Scrapbooking Association, although many are confused and believe it started back in 1994 by Creative Memories (It did not). It was an idea conceived to promote the art of scrapbooking while celebrating with those that enjoy the craft. It is always the first Saturday of May.

Thousands of people world wide plan and participate in National Scrapbooking Day activities and events. From store specials, to classes and projects offered just for the day, there are all sorts of things you can get in on. It’s probably too late to plan your own festivities, but you could still invite over a couple of scrappin’ friends and get to creating!

Have nowhere to go today? All your croppin’ friends are busy? No problem, that is totally okay. There are so many virtual crops and events planned that there is something for everyone. Several well known virtual class sites will be hosting classes all day long in hopes that you will learn and have fun while creating.

Dozens of sites will be hosting challenges to help you get more pages done. There will be chats, classes, specials and activities in honor of today’s special date.

The scrapbooking industry continues to grow in leaps and bounds and has been dubbed the fastest growing hobby ever.

If you are not in the mood to be creative or have found yourself in a scrapbooking rut, that’s okay too, you can still participate.

Organize your scrap area, check out the specials at the local scrapbooking store, take a class, organize your photographs or take them (or upload them) to get printed, etc.

There are dozens of ways to participate, all you have to do is be creative on National Scrapbooking Day! Have a wonderful time whatever you do, and please be sure to let us know what you are doing.
