For those of you following the twisted saga that has been unfolding in the days since Anna Nicole Smith’s death you may not be surprised by the latest turn of events.
First, news agencies have confirmed that Smith’s companion, Howard K. Stern is back in the Bahamas today and has been reunited with Smith’s 5-month-old daughter Dannielynn Hope. (Stern’s name is on the baby’s birth certificate, though paternity has yet to be determined.)
According to the New York Post, Stern picked up Dannielynn, hugged her, and said, “This is the only piece of Anna I have left.” Prior to Stern’s arrival, his mother and sister were reportedly caring for Dannielynn.
But, Stern’s mom is not the only one in the Bahamas. ABC News is reporting that Smith’s mother, Virgie Arthur, is also in the Bahamas to seek protective custody of the baby. But, Stern vowed to reporters that Arthur wouldn’t be allowed to get near the baby.
“Anna despised that woman. As long as I have breath in my body, that woman will not see Dannielynn,” Stern told TV’s “Entertainment Tonight.”
Adding fuel to this ever-growing fiery battle is a new report that says California photographer Larry Birkhead, who has long claimed to be the father of Smith’s baby (though he was denied custody of Dannielynn on Friday), has now teamed up with Smith’s mother to try to get Dannielynn.
“Everybody is in agreement that that child must be removed from Howard K. Stern’s environment and everybody is going to do whatever they can to get that done,” Birkhead’s attorney Debra Opri told the Post.
But, that’s not the only strange turn of events that was revealed today. The paternity battle over Dannielynn has taken a new twist. Now, along with Stern, Birkhead, and Zsa Zsa Gabor’s husband, another man could be in the running for the title of Dannielynn’s daddy.
The New York Daily News is reporting that Smith’s half-sister, Donna Hogan, may have evidence that could prove that the child’s father is Smith’s dead husband, Texas oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II. Hogan claims that Smith froze the sperm of her late 90-year-old husband before his death and may have used it to become pregnant.
