New Gadget – Loc8tor

If you are anything like me you can lose common items without even trying. Fear not! In today’s world there’s a gadget for everything and today I want to show you a new one that’s about to be released. It’s called the Loc8tor.

Ever see a spy movie where the daring agent plants a homing beacon on the briefcase full of secret government documents? If you have then you are ready to use the Loc8tor! With the use of the handheld device the size of an average cell phone and a locator tag that isn’t much bigger than a paper clip you’ll have the ability to find lost objects up to 600 feet away.

Using a 2.45GHz ISM frequency you will be able to track up to 24 lost or stolen items with both a beeping sound cue as well as directional guides displayed on the handheld unit’s screen. The tags can be attached to your item or dog or child with a key ring or an adhesive strip. Although for the dog I would suggest using the key ring.

There are two types of tags available. The regular tracking tag that will let you find your misplaced wallet, purse, laptop, or car keys and a homing panic tag that features a panic button that allows the tag to signal the hand held device with an Alert alarm should the person with the tag ever feel unsafe.

The Loc8tor also has a feature that allows you to set a distance alert or a safety zone if you will. I have a good friend who leaves his wallet behind all the time. With the Loc8tor he could place one of the small tags inside his wallet and set the safety zone to his required distance. When he goes outside of that safe range, say the front door of the restaurant and his wallets on the table next to the dishes from lunch, he would be alerted through the hand held.

The Loc8tor isn’t for everybody. The suggested retail price for the base model is 59.99 GBP. That’s about $112 US dollars. It will be available soon through the Loc8tor website but I expect it to be picked up by electronic stores and catalogues and websites very soon.

What new gadgets and gizmos are you interested in getting? How bout what type of gadget you would like to see but hasn’t been invented yet?
