New Job for Mario and New Babies for Primetime Stars

He’s hot… and he knows it.

Extra! Extra! Read all about it… Mario Lopez has snagged a daily TV gig as new host of the entertainment news show “Extra.”

The former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant is replacing musician Mark McGrath, who, for whatever reason, was hired to host the show three years ago.

Lopez’s appointment shouldn’t come as a huge shock to “Extra” viewers since he co-hosted the weekend edition of the program and contributed to weekday shows as a special correspondent.

Producers say Lopez will take over the anchor spot when the show returns for its 15th season on September 15th.

Karina Smirnoff’s ex-boyfriend says he is thrilled to be working at “Extra” full time and wishes McGrath well as he focuses on his musical career (the Sugar Ray singer is reportedly recording a new album with his band).

Meanwhile, current co-host Dayna Devon has been demoted to special correspondent on the show, so Lopez wouldn’t have to share the spotlight with anyone else.

I give Lopez a year on the job before he make like McGrath.

What’s your guess?

While Lopez preps for his new job, “Desperate Housewives” star Kyle MacLachlan and his producer wife Desiree Gruber are adjusting to their new roles as parents.

The couple just welcomed their first child, a boy, named Callum Lyon MacLachlan.

According to the actor’s rep, baby Callum was born Friday in Los Angeles and weighed 8 lbs, 6 oz.

MacLachlan and Gruber, an executive producer of “Project Runway,” have been married for six years.

It’s a son for “24” star Mary Lynn Rajskub too.

The actress gave birth to a baby boy, Valentine Anthony, last week Thursday.

According to Rajskub’s rep, Valentine weighed in at 9lbs., 5oz., but noted that the actress was two weeks overdue.

Valentine is the first child for 37-year-old Rajskub and her 28-year-old boyfriend Matthew Rolph.
