New Uses for Blanket Plastic Bags

Do you know those zippered or snapped plastic bags that come with blankets, comforters and sheet sets? They seem so useful and a shame to throw out, don’t they? They are made of sturdy plastic and they have that convenient zipper or snaps to close the bags and protect something, right? You keep the bags thinking that they might be useful to restore those blankets and sheets, but no matter how you fold them, the blankets, comforters or sheets just won’t fit again. Well, read on to find some ways you can give them new life, saving money in the process.

You can use the zippered bags for outgrown clothes. This is so convenient. When your children put on an article of clothing that clearly no longer fits, place it in the bag. I like this idea because saves those outgrown clothes from becoming clutter in the bottom of the closet or put back into the drawers where it is tried on again and again.

When the bag is full, you can do one of three things:

You can zipper it up and take it to donation. Bless a charity with your bounty.

You can zipper it up and give it away to a friend with a child or children who could make great use use that old size.

You can zipper it up, label it and store it away as hand me downs for younger siblings.

Another use that I have found for these bags is for use as under the bed storage. You can place toys, seasonal clothes or other items in the bags and then place the bag under the bed. Your items will remain dust free. Of course, you want to be careful if you have young children in the house, since any plastic bags within reach could pose a suffocation hazard.
