O.J. Simpson’s Headed to the Big House

And, by “Big House,” I don’t mean some luxury mansion is Los Angeles or Miami. After years of questionable behavior, O.J. Simpson has finally been brought down by the law and he has landed really hard.

In case you haven’t heard about his latest fiasco, O.J. was on trial for confronting memorabilia sellers Bruce Fromong and Al Beardsley in Las Vegas. The Juice thought these guys had stolen some merchandise from him, so in his Old West shoot’em up style, he and some goons entered the hotel room of Fromong and Beardsley at the Palace Station and took the memorabilia at gunpoint.

Now, some of you might say you’ve read my previous blogs about O.J. and I don’t like him. And, you would be absolutely correct. But, it seems that the allegations of this case are not in dispute. In fact, the judge in the trial, Jackie Glass, said that Simpson’s own words from his confession landed him in court.

What is amazing is that the extremely narcissist Simpson admitted guilt and apologized in court! With a shaky voice and seemingly on the verge of tears, Simpson said, “I stand here today sorry, somewhat confused. I feel apologetic to the people of the state of Nevada.” Well, okay, he didn’t apologize to Fromong and Beardsley, but it was an apology to someone. He said he didn’t mean to steal anything from anyone, only to retrieve his things from “friends.”

Wearing blue jail scrubs, Simpson appeared in the court today, charged with armed robbery, kidnapping, and assault for the October 3 incident. While he faced up to life in prison, a pre-sentencing report recommended an 18 year sentence. However, his attorneys, stating that Simpson was clearly not using good judgment, had asked for no more than six years.

In the end, it looks like O.J. Simpson took a gamble in Las Vegas and lost. At today’s sentencing, the judge informed Simpson, convicted of 12 criminal charges for this incident, that he was sentenced to at least 15 years in prison.

At 61, if Simpson serves the entire term, he will be 76 years old when he is released. However, word is that he will be eligible for parole in nine years.
