Organizing Grad Layouts

left

Most graduation ceremonies are over and the members of the Class of 2012 have moved on to the next chapters of their lives. However, before your grad celebrates yet another major milestone, it might be a good idea to put the finishing touches on his or her commencement-themed scrapbook.

Now is the time to collect mementos you want to feature in the album, or at least figure out alternative ways to include special items, such as a class ring. Memorabilia like class rings or graduation gowns are difficult to add to page designs; however, you can still make them part of your memory album by photographing them against a solid background and adhering the pictures to the layouts.

As you craft pages for your grad-themed scrapbook you might find that you are missing a few vital elements. For example, did you remember to snap shots of your child’s school or specific classrooms that he or she spent an inordinate amount of time in? If your student was a star athlete you might want to document various sporting venues that meant a lot to him or her. Once you have snapped all of your photos, you can scroll through them and enlarge the ones you want to feature on specific page designs. By making the images larger and fading them with the help of photo-editing software, you can turn a single photo into a memorable background design on acid-free paper.

If you are making the scrapbook as a gift, consider adding a personal message on various layouts. For instance, you could congratulate the graduate on his hard work and any specific accomplishments he achieved or you might consider offering some valuable advice. Other options include featuring inspirational words or phrases, applicable Bible verses or simply listing some of the grad’s most distinct personality traits.
