Organizing Travel Scrapbooks

left

With the busy summer vacation season kicking off in just a few weeks, many scrapbookers are getting into prep mode. After all, travel scrapbooks need just as much planning (if not more) than other themed memory albums.

Whether you are traveling to the beach, Disney or the Summer Olympics, you’ll want to make sure you have your ducks in a row in order to craft a stunning scrapbook when you return home. Consider bringing along a small folder or pouch to keep mementos of your trip. For example, if you are planning to take a summer cruise you’ll want to keep your ticket stub, as well as a map of your journey, and an itinerary. You could also snag a menu, postcards and the ship’s newsletter to add to your layouts. All of these items can be easily stored in a large envelope and sorted once you arrive home.

Another vital component of your travel scrapbook is a collection of photos. Regardless of where you plan to spend your holiday, don’t forget to snap a variety of pictures that will help retell the story of your adventures. For example, a cruise vacation scrapbook could include shots of the ship at dock before you set sail, the interior of your cabin, meals and drinks that you consume, you and your family dressed up for formal dinners or other events, shore excursions and onboard activities.

Fortunately, you don’t have to look very hard for travel-themed scrapbook embellishments. Craft stores and discount retailers are teeming with stickers, stamps, die cuts and paper that feature vacation themes. For instance, if you are looking to create a memory album depicting your travels to Hawaii, Mexico or the Caribbean, you could purchase die cuts and stickers featuring palm trees, colorful fish, bathing suits, tropical drinks, snorkels, hula skirts and the sun.
