OUCH! Celebrity Wrecks

Before I tell you why Jerry Seinfeld should be wearing a neck brace (and a full body cast) instead of “Dancing with the Stars” pro Derek Hough I wanted to give you an update on how the blond two-stepper is doing today.

Two words: NOT good.

According to reports, the popular ABC dance competition might make history next week when Hough’s celebrity partner Shannon Elizabeth is forced to waltz her way around the dance floor without her injured partner.

Doctors have instructed Hough to stay off the dance floor until further notice. PEOPLE magazine is reporting that the 22-year-old pro two-stepper must remain in a neck brace and cannot dance—–per doctor’s orders.

In a previous blog I detailed the unfortunate misstep Hough took Tuesday afternoon that led to his emergency visit to the hospital where physicians diagnosed the dancer with a neck strain.

Since Hough can’t dance (that includes not practicing with Elizabeth this week) he says there is little chance he will be ready to perform live on Monday night.

Stay tuned…

Now, on to the reason why comedian Jerry Seinfeld should be sporting a neck brace today.

According to the New York Post, the former “Seinfeld” star got into a serious car accident last week. Police reports say the brakes on the actor’s vintage car failed while he was driving to his home in the Hamptons.

Officers say the 53-year-old father of three young children reportedly tried to use the 1967 Fiat BTM’s emergency brake and when that failed he swerved to keep the vehicle from crashing into other cars sitting in an intersection.

Seinfeld’s car flipped over before coming to a stop just yards from the highway. Police on the scene say the actor’s quick thinking, “probably avoided a very serious accident.”

Amazingly, Seinfeld walked away from the wreck without a scratch… and it appears his sense of humor was unscathed as well.

“Because I know there are kids out there, I want to make sure they all know that driving without braking is not something I recommend, unless you have professional clown training or a comedy background, as I do,” Seinfeld told the newspaper. “It is not something I plan to make a habit.”

Still cracking jokes even after experiencing a horrific accident… would you expect anything less from Seinfeld?
