Outdoor Christmas Trees

You may or may not know that I have a slight problem. Hello, my name is Carol and I’m addicted to Christmas decorations. Every year I need something new! Just one more thing will make the display perfect. For a while now I’ve been drooling over those little spiral lighted trees for the front yard. I just have a tiny little front yard and while a blow up Santa would be overkill those little trees would be perfect. The only thing I didn’t like about them was their price. Then it hit me, I can make my own!

I came home and went through every closet, the garage and the shed. I couldn’t believe I didn’t think of this before. My tomato cages were just sitting there, waiting patiently for next year, but I had other ideas. This is so easy and ridicuolously inexpensive that you can make several.

All you need is some tomato cages, the wire ones, if you have a couple different sizes, even better, if not, all the same size is fine too, a few rubber bands and some Christmas lights. That’s it.

First, turn the tomato cage upside down so the “legs” that go in the ground are sticking up, grab the legs and a rubber band and wrap those babies together. Then wrap you’re inverted tomato cage cone with Christmas lights. That’s it! Now you can have Christmas trees for your front yard without purchasing anything new. Cute decoration and Earth friendly too!

Right after I finished these I found the spiral Christmas trees I bought last year at the after Christmas clearance sale so boy was my face red. Then I decided that they would look perfect on top of my bookcase so I googled three dimensional star instructions and made some paper stars for them since they would be inside.

So a new decoration that can go in or out of the house and best of all, I don’t have to store it! Come spring these tomato cages will go right back in the garden where they belong.
