Pack of Angry Chihuahuas Attack Officer

I was logging on to AOL this morning to check my email and that headline stood out.

Apparently a 17 year old was being escorted home by an officer and 5 Chihuahuas got out of the house and went for the officer. The officer is fine; he was treated and went back to work less than 2 hours later. That headline sure is sensationalized.

Chihuahuas sure do make the news a lot. I wonder why the media is so obsessed with this dog breed.

I remember a few months ago there was a story of a man who threw a Chihuahua out the window while driving on the freeway. He said that he didn’t mean to hurt the dog he just wanted to prove a point to his girlfriend. He was jealous that she spent so much time with her dog. That story stuck in my head because I could see someone getting jealous of the time I spend with my two.

And I will never forget the story of the woman who shot a 2 lb. Chihuahua. The headline read: “Frightened woman kills neighbor’s Chihuahua with shotgun” Apparently the dog was always wandering into her yard. She got scared so she fired to warning shots in the air.

My question is, what’s with all the negativity? Wait, it’s the news media, what am I expecting? This is why Chihuahuas have such a bad reputation. But they really are loving and intelligent dogs.

After a little searching I found a cute story about a Chihuahua who won first place in a holiday pet photo contest. The interesting thing is the dog’s owner had been entering the dog for the past 7 years. This is the first time the dog won. He was wearing reindeer antlers, a Santa suit and angel wings…not at the same time I don’t think.
