Today’s post is about photography scholarships and grants for high school and college students. This is not a complete list, but here are some that I have found information about. If you know of a high school or college student that has an interest in photography, please forward this on to them.

AWJ is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with chapters in Texas, Illinois, Florida and Minnesota as well as members around the country. Membership is open to all women and men of the working press, newsroom support personnel, freelance journalists and journalism students and academics.
AWJ seeks to encourage the study and practice of journalism by women, to offer them support and to work for their advancement, to promote family-oriented newsroom policies and to foster fair and accurate portrayals of women by the news media.

The North American Nature Photography Association offers several grants to students, and NANPA members who share their expertise with other members. The NANPA Foundation offers the Janie Moore Green Scholarship Grant of $1,000 annually, to a student currently enrolled in or having applied to an institution of higher education specializing in the study of photography. This article highlights the benefits of this scholarship program.
The Aaron Siskind Foundation grant program is open to photographers using still-photography based media. Eligible to US citizens not currently enrolled in a degree-granting program. Several grants of up to $5000 awarded annually to photographers based upon past accomplishments and the promise of future achievement. Funds must be used to support the artist’s creative endeavors. Here is one for those of us that are not in school, and who may be a little older. The Center for Documentary Studies/Honickman Foundation First Book Prize in Photography.
This biennial prize offers publication of a book of photography, a $3,000 award, and inclusion in a traveling exhibition of prizewinners. Duke University Press will publish the book in association with Lyndhurst Books of the Center for Documentary Studies. The prize, offered in collaboration with The Honickman Foundation, is open to American citizens of any age who have yet to publish a book-length work.
