Pop Culture Roundup – September 19, 2010

I hate to say I told you so, but…I told you so. Yesterday, we learned that newly sprung jailbird Lindsay Lohan had failed a drug test. This comes less than a month after her early release from rehab.

Lohan herself was the one that leaked the news about the failed test, tweeting “Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test and if I am asked, I am prepared to appear before judge Fox next week as a result.” Lohan also said, “This was certainly a setback for me but I am taking responsibility for my actions and I’m prepared to face the consequences.”

What exactly might those consequences be? She could go back to jail for up to 30 days. Personally, I hope Judge Fox does send her back. I’d also call into question the rehab facility that let this habitual offender out after less than a month. Cured? I don’t think so.

In happier news, Javier Bardem has finally admitted the obvious – wife Penelope Cruz is pregnant. He said this week, “It is true. I am very happy.” The recently married couple met in 1992 on the set of Jamon Jamon.

Another happy couple is actress Kelly McGillis and her new wife sales exec Melanie Leis. The couple was married in a civil union in New Jersey this week by Judge Robert T. Zane III. They met when Leis was a bartender at a Key West restaurant McGillis’ husband Fred Tillman, owned.

And finally, Paris Hilton is happy to have pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors for drug possession because it means no jail time for the socialite. She will appear before a judge in Las Vegas on Monday says the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Clark County District Attorney David Roger expects Hilton to walk a straight line however. He said, “We fashioned a resolution which would give us complete control over her future. If she does not toe the line and stay out of trouble she will do one year in the Clark County Detention Center.”
