Hello and welcome to Pop Goes The Culture, a blog devoted to the fascinating kaleidoscope we know as popular culture. As a phenomenon that is constantly changing, it’s hard to keep up with sometimes, but we will do our best to at least latch on its movement.
My name is Marjorie and I am the moderator for this very special blog. I am open to all suggestions and my outline is very flexible, but here are some of the topics I would like to cover:
1. Television: New and Old: Without giving away my age, I can say that I was there during the days of I Love Lucy and The Honeymooners and much later, All in The Family. The re-runs for these and many other series from the golden age of television and beyond are shown so often that they really are a part of popular culture. I watch Everybody Loves Raymond almost every night! For lovers and fans of these and other memorable sit-coms, I would like to dedicate significant blog space.
2. Movies:
Again, my age makes me think of older films, but then again some of the newer ones are fabulous as well. I have over 1,000 tapes in my video library. (I didn’t say I could find them; I just said that I have them) My loves are the mystery genre, Hitchcock and others, as well as the classic drama and romance of the likes of Humphrey Bogart, Claude Rains, Jimmy Cagney, just to mention a few.
Newer movies have just as much to say, if not more in their own right. The Sixth Sense scared me to death, and I write ghost and horror fiction as well. I also loved Russell Crowe in A Beautiful Mind.

3. Books:
The older classics are my favorites, but Tom Clancy, John Grisham and even Harry Potter and Raymond Chandler are fine topics for a chat. Tell me what books you like and we will talk about them.
4. Trends And Fads:
Everything from animal greeting cards to zen You name it! The sky’s the limit!
A few words about me.
I was born in Brooklyn, New York (where just about anything can happen and usually does). I live in Bucks County, PA, with six cats, many plants, not enough closets and a graphics artist significant other. (Not necessarily in that order.)
I have been writing for more than twenty years. (I guess I am a glutton for punishment!) I started out as a writer of ghost and horror fiction, which is my first and darkest love. I have written over one hundred stories, about 20 of which have been published in small presses over the years (See what I mean? Glutton for punishment!)
I branched out into creative non-fiction about eight years ago and work primarily as a humorist in maintaining seven web sites on the Internet together with my significant other (who does all the graphics). These sites cover a wide range of topics, including pop culture, which to me is one of the most fascinating phenomena of our modern age.
