If you failed to create the perfect Mother’s Day scrapbook to give as a gift on Sunday, now is your chance to make amends. Rather than waiting an entire year to put together a memory album filled with snapshots you took yesterday during your Mother’s Day celebrations, consider printing your images right away and crafting a book by the end of the week.
Mother’s Day scrapbooks don’t have to be elaborate. Instead, keep the layouts simple by focusing on the fun mom and the rest of the clan had while celebrating the special occasion.
For example, if you spent Mother’s Day having a picnic at a local park or your favorite beach, then design your layouts around the meal. Select picnic theme embellishments from your scrapbook supply store, such as food stickers, stamps and die cuts. Jolee’s Boutique sells several super cute 3-D sticker packs that include picnic blankets, baskets and even tiny black ants.
Use the stickers and other embellishments to spice up a layout that includes photos of friends and family chowing down on the Mother’s Day meal you shared yesterday. Also, look for humorous candid shots of mom enjoying her favorite cake or feeding the baby her first bite of potato salad.
If you are running short on memorabilia, then include a few Mother’s Day cards. You can design layouts to accommodate personal notes or poems written in the cards if you don’t have room to fit all of the well wishes. Then, add whimsical touches to the pages, such as using the ant stickers as a page border. You could place ant-shaped rubber stamps in a zigzagging line between journaling blocks or draw your own ants with an acid-free marker if you are looking to make a unique frame around a photo of mom hamming it up on her special day.
