The 40-year-old shamed skater, who masterminded the attack on fellow Olympian Nancy Kerrigan, recently announced that she is “super excited” about her first child. According to tabloids, Harding’s baby daddy is a 42-year-old Portland, Oregon, repairman.
If you are looking to send your congrats… cough… cough… to Harding, you may want to wait until after she delivers her bouncing baby boy (yes, tabloids are reporting that the former skater is carrying a son). According to a new survey, traditional baby showers are soooo 2008. These days post pregnancy baby showers or “Welcome to the World” parties are the hot new trend, and make the baby, rather than the expectant mom, the guest of honor.

Types of Pregnancy: TheBump.com says of the thousands of expectant moms it surveyed 6 out of 10 opted to have the shower after the baby’s birth, especially if they had a hard pregnancy.
Religious beliefs: Some cultures believe that bad luck comes to those who flaunt a pregnancy, so celebrating before the baby arrives into the world is a no-no. TheBump.com also reveals that some of its survey respondents, namely Jewish moms-to-be and some from other European nations, customarily wait to have the shower after the baby arrives.
Convenience: The third reason is simple: Often it is more convenient to have a shower after the baby is born so you can show him or her off to family and friends, plus it’s easier to register for gifts if you know the gender of your baby. This is especially true if you are looking to register for personalized gifts that feature the baby’s name and birthdate.
