With Easter being so late this year, there is just a short window of time between Peter Rabbit’s visit and my favorite holiday of the year: Mother’s Day.
My mom lives 5,000 miles away, so we won’t be spending face time with each other this Mother’s Day, but that doesn’t mean I won’t be thinking about her. In fact, I will be thinking about her a great deal between now and Mother’s Day as I make like the Tasmanian devil in order to complete the scrapbook I am creating for her.
The book has nothing to do with Mother’s Day. Actually, it contains all the photos I took during our visit to see her and the rest of my family in Hawaii over Christmas and New Year’s. If I were spending Mother’s Day with her I would certainly snap pictures and place them in a scrapbook.
If you are given the gift of spending time with your mom this Mother’s Day don’t miss out on all the amazing opportunities you have to preserve the moments with fab layouts. Here are some ideas to get you started:
Meals: Whether you make a Mother’s Day brunch or take mom out for a special dinner, don’t forget to bring your camera. You can use the photos to create a lovely layout. Simply choose a background paper in your mom’s favorite color, and then craft a sun from yellow cardstock. Affix the sun to the corner of the scrapbook page, and then place a photo of your mom in the center of the sun. Next, place photos of the family enjoying breakfast or brunch together. If you have extra space you can use it for a journaling block.
Flowers: When it comes to Mother’s Day, many people express their love for mom with flowers. Whether your mom receives a huge bouquet of roses or a small pot of geraniums, be sure to take photos of the blossoms. You can use the images to create a flower garden theme layout. Start by select floral print scrapbook paper for your background, and then choose solid cardstock in coordinating colors for the flowers. Cut out the flower shapes and place them at the top of the page. Next, cut out round photos of each child and place them in the centers of the flowers. Then, use a marker or green cardstock to make the stems and leaves. Finally, fill the remainder of the page with photos of the family together on Mother’s Day.
