Priceless Christmas Gifts for Parents

left

I smile every time I see the sign that reads: “Unattended children will be given an espresso and a free puppy.”

You can usually catch the tongue-in-cheek threat hanging in stores, doctors’ offices and auto repair shops.

I love kids to pieces and I firmly believe a baby is one of the best gifts a person can receive during the holiday season… or any time of the year. However, the cute creatures aren’t problem-free. They enter the world following the shedding of blood, sweat and tears, and the work that goes into raising them doesn’t miraculously dwindle when they reach puberty.

With all the effort parents expend in a single day–every day–caring for their children, you’d think Santa would have some type of gift that would help lighten the load.

You can’t put a price tag on good help these days, so if Santa could really deliver the impossible, what would you choose:

Housekeeper: Yes, please. I would love for someone to come into my home to tame Dirty Laundry Mountain or scale Filthy Dishes Bluff. I would also appreciate getting a break from vacuuming, scrubbing toilets, dusting and picking up toys from every corner of the house.

Personal Chef: Double yes! Whereas I enjoy perfecting my culinary skills, I could do without cooking three meals a day, every day. After the first 139 days of the year, cooking becomes more of a chore than a pleasure. I dream of the day when a professional chef takes over my kitchen, whips up a week’s worth of meals, does the dishes, and then does it all over again the following Monday.

Driver: Now that my child is involved in every extra-curricular activity under the sun, I wouldn’t balk at the gift of a chauffeur. Having a driver to schlep my kid from school to piano lessons to soccer and tennis would be the ultimate Christmas gift.

Moms and Dads; what’s your Christmas fantasy?
