Product Review: Epson Stylus Photo 1280

scrapbookingUpon researching a good printer for my scrapbooking, I came across the Epson Stylus Photo 1280. This printer has got to be the ultimate printer for the scrapbooker.

Now don’t get me wrong, I own a much better all in one printer for my computer needs that also prints out awesome photos and such. But I need a printer that printed the way a scrapbooker needs things printed.

Well the Epson Stylus 1280 is exactly that printer.

This little printer:

  • Prints up to 13″ wide
  • Has superior, 6-color Photo Ink System
  • 5760 x 720 optimized dpi
  • True BorderFree™ photo printing in 6 popular sizes
  • Ideal for 12″ x 12″ scrapbook layouts
  • Water-resistant and lightfast media
  • USB / Parallel Interface

I think the key point for a scrapbooker has to be that it prints up to 13” wide! That is absolutely perfect for 12×12 layouts, as well as printing directly on the large cardstock. Imagine, just being able to slip in one full 12×12 sheet of cardstock and print directly onto it. The thought gives me shivers. I know this is the printer for me!

In addition to the great benefits above, this sweet printer also has true BorderFree™ photo printing in 6 popular sizes. It prints 4″ x 6″, 5″ x 7″, 8″ x 10″, letter-size, 11″ x 14″, and 13″ x 19″ enlargements, plus 13″ x 44″ panoramas. Wow! It also has a variety of pre-cut borderless and roll type photo papers available to make printing options a bit more fun.

I asked around about the Epson Stylus Photo 1280 ink jet printer, because I wasn’t as excited about going back to ink jet. However, the printer got rave reviews from the many scrapbookers who have used it.

Most often scrapbookers quoted its ideal large-format size as the reason they fell in love with the printer. But I’ve also heard they love that it prints quality prints, bright, vibrant colors and the different sizes of the photos.

Overall I feel that the Epson Stylus Photo 1280 is the best printer for the scrapbooker. Retail price is around $299.
