Putting Things in a Safe Place

There is nothing more frustrating that knowing you have something and not being able to find it when you need it. I did this recently. I put a book in such a safe place I couldn’t find it. Why on earth didn’t I just put it on my desk or the bookshelf you might ask? I have no idea.

Instead I slipped it into a safe place till I could get around to reading and reviewing it. I put it in such a safe place that when I wanted it, I couldn’t find it. I had a feeling I’d done something odd with it, but I turned the study upside down, cleaned up the desk, opened all drawers and scanned all the bookshelves. No book.

It was weighing on my mind so much I even dreamt about it, except in my dream the book was in a logical place on the bookshelf.

Then the other day as I was about to write for the Christian blog, I opened an old communion time or quiet time journal and there tucked inside, in its safe place, was the book in question.
The thing was that even as I’d slipped the book in this place, I’d been aware it was a strange thing to do with it but I did it anyway. All the time I was looking for the book I kept saying to Mick, ‘ I have a feeling I put it in an odd place.’

That’s really the key to this article. Make sure you always put things in the same place, keys especially. It is so easy to put them down on the table or bench when you come in instead of where they should be. Have a hook for keys and put them on it is the best way. Then you won’t be like someone I know recently. They had to get the locks on the house changed because they had no idea where the key was or even if it had somehow been thrown out while unpacking after a move.
Putting them in the same safe place all the time is a good way to stop having to shell out for new locks or not being able to find something important.
