Reasons to be a Work at Home Mom

Why do you want to be a work at home mom? There are many reasons but here are some of the more popular reasons for moms to work at home.

Reasons to work at home:

Save money on daycare: This is one of the top reasons I have come across. Either saving the money on daycare or not feeling comfortable putting a child in daycare.

Save money on gas and clothing: With gas prices sky rocketing this is a popular reason to not desire a commute. The savings in clothing is also appealing as your children will not mind if you show up for work in jeans and a tee shirt.

Flexibility: The aspect of flexibility is misleading. To maintain a successful business at home one must put in the hours. In fact, many business owners work more than an average person working for someone. On the other hand, it makes scheduling appointments and the worry of sick days easier to handle. Do not mistake flexible scheduling with a smaller work load. It is likely that if you decide to go to the zoo that day you will be working that night.

Sick kids can stay home with no fear of losing your job: I have worked outside the home and inside the home and from my home (as a mom is working regardless of income.). I have seen firsthand the effect of having to take time off work due to a sick child can have on your job. It isn’t pretty. If you work for yourself you won’t have to worry about not getting promoted or worse yet getting fired due to taking too many sick days.

Do what you love: Doing what you love and getting paid for it is a dream come true. Arguably it is the American dream we all share. The sheer passion you have for your work will drive you to put in the hours necessary to make your dream a reality.
