Recall: Hasbro Easy Bake Oven

Kids love to imitate their parents. They love to do all the grown up stuff we do. Well, they like it until they actually have to do it, but pretending to do all that stuff is fun. That is why many of us grew up “cooking” with our Easy Bake Ovens, just like Mom.

I had one. Did you?

I also bought them for my girls over the years, but thankfully, I think we are beyond the fascination of the Easy Bake Oven. It was a cool idea and we had fun with it, but I am glad to be done with the mess.

Unfortunately, at the moment there is more to worry about than the mess. The Consumer Products Safety Commission has issued a recall on just under one million of these ovens. Apparently, there have been over two dozen children whose fingers have become stuck in the device leading to burns.

If you bought your child an Easy Bake Oven between May of last year and February of this year, it is a good idea to put it away and contact the manufacturer. Many sales of this product probably occurred around Christmas, and those units would be effected by the recall. There is a free kit and a warning label available to address the problem, so your child does not have to give up the oven entirely, if you are willing to give it another try with the remedy in place.

You should be able to locate the warning on the Consumer Products Safety Commission site, as discussed in the previous recall article, or you can go right to the Hasbro site to fill out a form. You can also call this toll free number (800)601-8418 or pass it along to others you know that purchased this product.

Guess I Should Have Read The Label First!
