Resources for Christian Blogging

When beginning to blog for Families.com, I imagined I would share some things I’ve learned during my walk with the Lord. I figured there would be times were I’d need to be inspired and what better resource than the internet, right? While this is so true; the internet has so much available information, I find myself just as often digging in books.

In looking at my cluttered workspace now, I find 3 open books that are awaiting my examination:

1. My Bible is perhaps the number one tool I use. Even when I use the internet to look up certain scriptures, they are always followed up in my own Bible. Though not often, there are times I’ve found typos in scriptural references on the internet. Plus, in looking up passages in my own Bible, I am more likely to find them again in the future should I need to.

2. Where to Find it in the Bible by Ken Anderson is my second most used tool (not counting the internet). In this book, I’m able to find scriptures pertaining to almost any topic I’m writing on.

3. The New Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible is another book I use though not as often. I also have a Zondervan NIV Exhaustive Concordance that I use if needed. These books provide me with the Hebrew or Greek origin of a specific word from the Bible. This is beneficial for debatable language to help put emphasis on the interpretation of an English word.

Anyway, these are my 3 most used tools in addition to the internet. I know these same things can be found online fairly easily; however, it’s nice to get out of the den to sit outside in the sun or in a different room. I often find the change of scenery inspiring. Whether it’s looking at the trees and sky God has made, or the presence of my children running around, there are so many things that God is involved in with our lives. There is plenty to be inspired by. Now, if I could just find more time in my day…
