Review of CareerBuilder.com

Job Site Name/Link: CareerBuilder.com

Basics:
This is my favorite job seeking site. The site draws from local and national job listings and combines them all together in one place. To start out, you can try the “Quick Search” on the right hand side of the homepage. Or, there is also the “Advanced Search” option. This lets you search for several different kinds of jobs at the same time. You can even look for jobs in several different cities. There is a salary section on the “Advanced Search” form where you can specify what pay range you are willing to consider.

Pros:
This site offers “Job Alerts” and you can register to receive emails when jobs that fit your criteria are posted. A new feature they are offering is “Job Search Recommendations”. You can enter your resume and job experience and the site will generate a list of jobs that seem to fit your skills.

Furthermore, the reason that I like this site is that it is very user friendly. When a job listing comes up it is easy to read and there isn’t a lot of extraneous information on the page. It is easy to read and easy to find the requirements for the job and how to apply.

Cons:
This site hides employer email addresses from you even if they were in the original job listing. They want you to apply through their site. I find this frustrating because I want to be able to contact the employer to follow up once I have applied. Sometimes you can get around that by looking for the website where the job was first posted and finding the listing.

The Bottom Line:
This site is user friendly and easy to navigate. It offers automatic job updates through email. The job matching feature can help you look for jobs that you might not have considered otherwise.
