Review of “NewYu Fitness Monitor”

I was recently sent a “NewYu Fitness Monitor,” valued at $99, to review. To be honest, it has been difficult to get full use of this monitor because of some health issues. But I have used it enough to understand it’s good and bad.

First, let me explain how it works. It looks much like a pedometer and although it works like one, it goes a little further. Pedometers track the number of steps you take. This monitor can track all physical activity, so if you are doing vigorous housework or biking, this gets included into your daily activity level.

Once you install the software, you will set up a profile on their website. This helps to calculate your calories burn rate. You will need to input your name, height, weight and other basic information. Then you get to set some goals.

The first goal you will set is either distance or steps. I chose how many steps per day I wanted to take. By the way, the recommended is 10,000. You can also set goals for how many calories you want to burn and how many you want to consume. Then you also set your target weight.

What I really like about this monitor is that you can utilize your dashboard to monitor your activity and resting levels, along with the amount of calories you have consumed and burned.

Now I am not one to keep track of my calories, so although I tried it a couple of times, I find it be a nuisance more than anything. But for those who want to keep track of them or already do, this is a great tool.

You can also sync your monitor with your smartphone, however, I haven’t used that feature. It isn’t something I am likely to do. In fact, the most use I will get out of this monitor is to keep track of my activity levels.

The things I didn’t care for was how easily the monitor can slip off certain material. I found it safer to keep it in my pocket. I also didn’t get a good feel for my progress by looking directly at the monitor. It has lights which indicate how far you have reached your goal but they aren’t very distinguishable.

A couple of times I had trouble with the monitor syncing to my computer, but within a short time, I would get a response from the online customer support that is available. There isn’t much information on the website on how to fix problems but it always seemed to work itself out.

In the end, I think the $99 is worth the price if you plan to utilize all of its functions. If you are looking for a fitness monitor that tracks everything, this might be a perfect Christmas gift.
