Rosie’s New Role—Britney’s Adoptive Mother?

Don’t believe everything you hear… from Lynne Spears. Britney’s mom has recently been making the rounds trying to convince her daughter’s fans that she and the pop princess are mending their fractured relationship. Things reportedly went south when Lynne finally stepped up after Brit appeared panty less in public, shaved her head, got sloshed on a nightly basis, etc. The rift came to a head when Mama Spears hand delivered her daughter to rehab.

When Britney left rehab she was reportedly still furious with her mother and refused to acknowledge her existence. Now reports say that the things between the former Mouseketeer and her den mother have gotten worse. According to one news report, Britney is planning to request a restraining order against her own mother. “Access Hollywood” is reporting that Brit wants to keep her mother away from her young sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James. Oh, but that’s only half of it. According to news sources, the singer is alleging that her mom is abusing prescription pain medication and unfit to be a part of her grandsons’ lives.

Spears’ website has what could be a cryptic clue in this mother-daughter debacle. A line posted there reads: “You’ll never see it my way, because you’re not me.” Also, at the bottom of the website, this line was added: “MothertoGrandmother, and my my, you’re grand.”

If Brit is looking for a new mom Rosie O’Donnell says she is available. Now that the comic is off “The View” and no longer in the running to fill Bob Barker’s shoes, she has sent a video message to Spears, welcoming her to the Cyndi Lauper show (O’Donnell has been playing drums on the tour) and offering her some motherly advice: “Brit, if you’re watching, honey, you and me – we’re gonna share, like, a backstage moment, ’cause I love you, kid!”

O’Donnell goes on to say how much she “enjoys Britney.” By my calculations O’Donnell’s offer of moral support couldn’t come at a better time. If Brit is giving her mom the boot could another O’Donnell adoption be in the works?
