Save Money and Make Your Own Bath Salts

Everyone loves a fragrant, soothing bath, but who wants to pay the mall price for a small jar? You can make your own fragrant bath salts with a few grocery and craft store items. This recipe is so simple even children can make it!

In a glass bowl measure out:

1 Cup Epsom salts 1 Cup Course Sea Salt

Stir the salts well and remove 1/4 cup to a separate glass bowl.

To the 1/4 cup of salts add:

20 drops of your favorite fragrance oil 5 drops of food coloring

Stir the drops and salt mixture until very well blended, then pour into the remaining bowl of salts and mix until completely blended.

Pour your blended bath salts into a glass jar with a tight fitting lid and shake well. Shake your salts once a day for one week to promote even distribution of the fragrance oil.

After one week, you can transfer the salts into individual 1/4 cup packets or leave in the glass jar. When your ready for a bath, add 1/4 cup of salts to warm running water and enjoy!

* Once you made the basic recipe, you can experiment with different fragrance oil blends, and customize your own colors. Zip-loc bags are great for storage, but if you want to give your salts away as gifts, glass jars are best and can be found in many shapes and sizes at craft stores and glass outlets.
