Save Money on Expensive Beauty Products

There are so many things in our homes that we take for granted and assume they have only one use, or no use at all. I love those lip plumping products, but I just can’t bring myself to spend all that money on them. I love the fresh feeling of my skin after exfoliating, but who can afford those expensive body scrubs? Some of these frugal beauty tips might surprise you, but they all use inexpensive products that you likely already have in your refrigerator or kitchen cupboard – why not give them a try?

Lip Plumper

Mix together:
1-2 tsp Vaseline
½ tsp Cinnamon
½ tsp Salt

Apply to lips with your fingertips, rubbing gently so salt can remove dead skin. Let sit on lips for five minutes to allow the cinnamon to plump your lips.

Deep (Hair) Conditioners
If you’ve just been too hard on your hair, this is a great way to give a little life back to it from simple items found in your kitchen.

Mayonnaise: Apply mayonnaise liberally throughout hair. Cover with a shower cap or plastic wrap and allow to sit for 20 minutes. Wash and condition as usual.

Banana: Mash one banana with 2 Tbsp olive oil until smooth. Apply liberally throughout hair. Cover with a shower cap or plastic wrap and allow to sit for 20 minutes. Wash and condition as usual.

Face & Skin

Coffee Grounds: Use used coffee grounds for an invigorating scrub that will exfoliate as well as give your skin a caffeine boost.

Egg Whites: Mix up an egg white with a fork until it is not quite clear anymore. Apply with fingertips or pastry brush to your face (don’t get it in your eyes). Allow to dry and then peel it off. This is a wonderfully gentle facial for those with sensitive skin.

Lemon Juice: If you have oily skin, apply lemon juice with a wash cloth or cotton ball/pad (careful not to get it into your eyes) and then rinse with cold water.

Exfoliating Body Scrub: Fill a resealable container (like Gladware) with salt. Pour in olive oil until it reaches the top of the salt. Cover and use the next time you shower. The salt will scrub away dead skin cells, giving you a healthy glow and the oil will moisturize your skin. This is a great way to rejuvenate skin and can even help make that cellulite a little less noticeable.

All simple, cheap and great ways to pamper yourself on a budget!
