Saving Money With Coupons

Do you coupon? When I was first married I was a diehard couponer, I didn’t buy anything I didn’t have a coupon for, I paid full price for nothing, my ex husband often joked about my obsessive couponing. As life got busier my couponing fell to the wayside, as a single mother even though saving money would have been nice I just never seemed to have the time. I never use coupons now.

I guess the older I got the less processed, packaged food I used so coupons no longer seemed that important. Enter a new economy and a renewed interest in coupons.

I bought the Sunday paper today, for the first time in a long time, just for the coupons. I see updates on Facebook all the time about how much money my friends have saved using coupons. It’s time to get started.

I’m also hoping to teach Hailey to help her save some money at the grocery store since she will be living on her own now. A newlywed couple needs to save money every where they can. The coupons for packaged foods will come in handy until Hailey and Alex really learn to cook.

I’m just starting to do some research on different coupon sites and learning how to really combine coupons with circulars. I know some people at work who are so good at couponing that they get tons of stuff for free and donate it to local food pantries.

I looked through the coupon inserts this weekend and as I suspected most of the coupons are for packaged food, not really what I want to eat but I know if I keep watching I will find coupons for some things I need. There were some coupons for things like black beans and canned tomatoes, things I use often in cooking.

I’m looking forward to seeing how much money I can save, in this economy every penny really does count. What are your favorite coupon sites and hints?
