Scrapbook Paper Decor

paper How would you like a fun home decorating project that is also cost effective? Here are a few different things that you can make from patterned paper, such as the kind that you might find in a craft or scrapbook store. These ideas are creative and can take on different style elements, from modern to country to eclectic, depending on the paper you use and the design of your finished project.

If you love to scrapbook or make custom cards, then chances are that you have plenty of scrap pieces left over. If not, or if you want a really pulled-together look, the paper can be easily found.

What will be your favorite project?

Instant Art

For a great look, cut out silhouettes of objects, animals or even people. You might choose a shape that is whimsical, birds and butterflies, cars or crowns for a child’s room, or pretty much anything you like. You can find a number of silhouettes available for printing on the Internet. Cut the shapes out of your patterned paper. You can use the same shape more than once, varying the the paper. Or have a complimentary pair by rotating the paper slightly or flipping it 180 degrees before you cut a second shape.

Stylish Candles

You can add some sophistication to standard candles by wrapping them in a vine, garland or pretty strip made from patterned scrapbook paper. Use the backside of the paper to draw your design in pencil. You’ll want to curve the design a bit so that it will spiral around the candle or votive holder. Also, you should make the design run at least twice the length of the circumference of your candle to make it wrap nicely for a romantic look. For a cleaner, more modern look. Use a single plain strip of paper, and wrap the candle only once.
