Lately, I’ve been shying away from scrapbooking single events. Whereas I used to keep a daily album updated with cute or memorable activities involving my young daughter, time is simply not on my side anymore and now I collect, collect, collect, and then whip together a whole book during a marathon scrapbooking session.
My goal in 2012 is to take time to craft daily pages again. I love the idea of preserving a single moment in time, rather than waiting for a major event, such as a birthday, anniversary, wedding, or baby shower to happen before I sit down to scrap.
My latest single event project features a night out at a new fondue restaurant in our small town. It wasn’t a birthday dinner or an anniversary celebration; rather, I simply got together with friends I hadn’t seen since Christmas to enjoy good food and great conversation.
Since a fondue dinner party is so interactive it was easy to snap a bunch of animated photos to use in the layout. In addition, you may be surprised by how many scrapbook supply companies actually sell fondue-themed embellishments. I had no problem purchasing stickers and paper that featured all of the ingredients we used during dinner, including bread, vegetables, fruit, cheese and chocolate. I also found a darling set of utensil stickers that I used for the page border. If you want to personalize your page design, you could snap a close-up photo of the actual long-handled fondue fork you used during your get-together and resize it and print it out to make a nifty border.
Another idea is to find a clip art image of a fondue pot or snap a shot yourself and enlarge it to use as the focus of the layout. You can add images to cover parts of the pot or simply surround the pot with photos of your friends enjoying the fondue. If you use an image of a large black pot, just be careful to use background paper that complements it or at least doesn’t clash with the colors in your photos. You might also consider using borders or a mat to make the fondue pot pop if you are using as the centerpiece of the layout.
