Spring is primetime for baptisms. In some churches baptisms are put on hold during the season of Lent, which means as soon as Easter is over there is a tidal wave of babies being welcomed into the church.
Regardless of when your baby is baptized, the occasion is extremely momentous, and certainly one you will want to scrapbook. Fortunately, since baptisms are common in many religions it is not hard to find scrapbook paper and embellishments that are theme appropriate. Of course, you can use any plain paper or generic stickers, but spending a bit more on special baptism-themed scrapbook paper and stickers can really enhance the layout of your child’s christening.
For girls consider paper that has pink stripes or a floral background. For boys, find paper in varying shades of blue. For my nephew’s baptism layout, my sister-in-law used blue paper overlaid with the repeating phrase “Blessed Event”. Actually, there are a ton of paper deigns that feature religious phrases pertaining to baptism. Karen Foster has some really nice religious-themed baptism scrapbook paper offerings that feature the words “baptism”, “Holy Ghost” and “new life” among others.
In addition to scrapbook paper, consider investing in some special baptism-themed stickers to embellish your layout. My daughter’s baptism layout includes stickers of a smiling dad and baby girl in her baptismal gown. The title “My Blessing” is accented with a daisy and set against a pink gingham background. There’s also a boy version of the same sticker set. It features a dad and his infant son in a baptismal suit, complete with white afghan set against a blue pinstripe background.
If you want more generic stickers, then consider using crosses. There are tons of sticker sets that feature different cross stickers, which would add a simple touch to any baptismal scrapbook layout.
