Screaming Baby Makes Headlines

No parent enjoys listening to her child wail at the top of his lungs.

This is exponentially true if said child is wailing at the top of his lungs in public.

So, imagine being the Oregon mom whose baby would not stop screaming during a recent bus ride. According to reports, the infant was so inconsolable that both mom and baby got booted from the moving vehicle by an irate bus driver.

ABC News reports that the bus driver simply got fed up listening to the bawling baby and ordered the mother and her sobbing child off the bus and out on a cold, dark street.

But here’s the rub.

According to told the Oregonian, the mother and her baby were not the only ones who left the bus when the driver pulled over. Several other passengers stormed off the public transit in support of the booted mother.

One passenger, who told the newspaper that she is also a young mother, described the scene as “chaotic” and “unbelievable.”

“I don’t care if the baby was screaming her head off, which she wasn’t, you don’t drop a woman off in the dark with her baby,” the witness told the paper.

According to other witnesses, several riders tried to calm the driver after she got upset about the crying baby. However, when the bus driver announced that anyone, who didn’t agree with her kicking the mom and baby off the bus, could get off the vehicle as well, then things got out of control. A bunch of passengers reportedly delved into obscene name-calling toward the driver while others simply got off and walked to the next stop.

ABC News is reporting that the driver has been placed on administrative leave. Oh, and her non-existent tolerance for crying babies is being broadcast around the world.

Sounds to me as though there were two babies on the bus that day… only one was behind the wheel.
