T-minus five days until Santa sets out on his annual gift-giving all-nighter.
By now your halls should be decked and ready for loved ones to share in the holiday merriment. If you are planning to document the upcoming seasonal celebrations in a scrapbook, now is the time to make your list and check it twice.
Make sure your camera has extra batteries and an empty memory card, so you don’t have to worry about missing any of the magical moments. Also, have a pen and pad ready to document funny anecdotes that abound when you have multiple generations of family members under the same roof. In addition, you may want to jot down highlights from your clan’s holiday traditions. For example, if you purchase new Christmas pajamas for your children to wear in a photo, note the story behind your selection. Or, if you have a ritual when it comes to opening holiday gifts or certain songs that you always sing on Christmas Eve, be sure to list them so you can add them to your journaling blocks when creating your seasonal scrapbook layouts.
If you forget to make notes during the festivities, you could supplement your layouts with quotes. There are thousands of famous sayings related to the holidays which can add some seasonal spice to your scrapbook. Some of my favorites include:
“Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.” ~Norman Vincent Peale
“Perhaps the best Yuletide decoration is being wreathed in smiles.” ~Author Unknown
“The joy of brightening a child’s heart creates the magic of Christmas.” ~W. C. Jones
“Oh, for the good old days when people would stop Christmas shopping when they ran out of money.” ~Author Unknown
“Gifts of time and love are surely the basic ingredients of a truly merry Christmas.”~ Peg Bracken
“He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree.” ~Roy L. Smith
“Open your presents at Christmastime but be thankful year round for the gifts you receive.” ~Terri Guillemets
“Christmas is not as much about opening our presents as opening our hearts.” ~Janice Maeditere
“There has been only one Christmas – the rest are anniversaries.” ~W.J. Cameron
