September’s Reflections

As I have mentioned before, I think it is extremely important for Christians to continue growing. In fact, I think maturing in Christ is part of the Christian walk. I believe a portion of maturing in Christ is to always continue growing in the Word of God. Christians should be continually building on their knowledge of the Word. Christians should also be persistently gaining a deeper understanding of the Word by studying the Word. Writing this blog has given me the opportunity to grow in my understanding of the Bible. Writing the blog has also prompted me to look back at my life and consider how I have grown in the Lord. I thought I would share a couple of things I have learned this past month in my walk with the Lord, and encourage you to look at your life as well.

  1. You can never have the same Bible lesson too many times. Through a strange set of circumstances my husband and I have heard the same lesson about King David three or four times over the past couple of months. While I was not as attentive to the lessons as I should have been (something I learned I need to work on), I have developed a better understanding and remembrance of the story because I have heard it so many times.
  2. Sometimes you have to disappoint people in the world to stand true to the Lord. I am currently in graduate school working on my masters degree. Twice my class has been rescheduled to a time which conflicted with my congregation’s Wednesday evening Bible study. Both times I chose to leave class early (or not go at all) in order to meet with the congregation. My professor was not pleased with my choice; however, I know that meeting together with my brothers and sisters in Christ to praise the Lord and learn more about Him is more important than anything I could do at school.
