Set a Festive Table for Fourth of July

Do you like to decorate for every holiday? Many people like to set a festive table even if they don’t necessarily go all out on other decorations. You can certainly purchase decorations and party ware for nearly any occasion, but you can also create an attractive table without overspending.

Instead of choosing specialty plates and other tableware with holiday designs or motifs, consider choosing less costly solid colored options instead, in the colors you need for the occasion. For Fourth of July, you can use everyday napkins in white instead of the more expensive party napkins. Choose red or blue plates and cups or a combination, like red plates, blue cups, or vice versa.

You can decorate a low cost tablecloth yourself instead of purchasing a pricey themed one. Choose from inexpensive, disposable options or select a vinyl cloth for a dollar or two more that you can use again next year. Check out More Fourth of July Ideas for some tips.

You can add festive charm with homemade centerpieces and other elements. Try the Spirited Candleholder craft idea in Kid’s Crafts, or create your own patriotic designs. You can also use simple clear votive holders and fill them with red, white, and blue candles or fill them with water and add a few drops of red or blue food coloring to a few of them. You can also do the latter with pretty bottles or jars.

Another way to save while still keeping in the spirit is to purchase one decorative placemat for the center of the table instead of buying placemats for every seat. Place a pretty bowl or vase in the center or simply use it as a base for salt and pepper shakers and other condiments.

You can use the food you are serving to add color and a festive touch to the table as well. Try the Patriotic Parfait!
