Setting Goals for Your Christian Journey

The following is a personal scoring chart for you to use for yourself to mark your own progress in your Christian walk. Just circle between 0 to 10 depending where you fall on this spectrum; 0 being not at all, 10 being always. Perhaps set some goals for yourself based on the answers you give today and check back again in six months or so. This isn’t to make anyone feel inadequate in any way. None of us have “arrived” at complete holiness but we should all desire to grow in our faith.

My church attendance is regular.

After circling where you are on the scale, think about some realistic goals you can set for yourself. I suggest “realistic” because our spiritual growth should be a regular part of our life and something that can be committed to. Here are some suggestions:

  • Set a morning, lunchtime or evening routine including prayer time.
  • Pray and ask God to guide you and help bring some things to mind.
  • Perhaps keep a Bible in your car for reading during your lunch break?
  • Pray with your children before going to school.
  • When watching television, consider whether or not the program is offensive to Christ who’s in you.
  • Check out your church’s bulletin or bulletin board to see if there are opportunities to be involved and be a blessing.

I pray you are blessed as you draw nearer to God.
