Short and Sweet

When it comes to scrapbook layout titles, I like ‘em short and sweet. I don’t care for long, languishing titles that sprawl across two pages, snake around corners and trail down the sides of page designs.

But that’s just me.

I get a certain satisfaction from coming up with cute quips that double as bold titles. What’s more, when you have a short title you have more flexibility in your layout. For starters, you don’t have to worry about squeezing all of the words on a single page. Moreover, you save money by not having to use as many embellishments to spell out the title. In fact, one of the reasons I embrace tiny titles as much as I do is because once I was short a few stickers while designing a six-word title. Rather than run to the scrapbook supply shop to pick up additional “E” stickers, I simply reduced the title to three words.

Lest you think that short is not always sweet, take a look at some of the teensy titles I’ve used on past layouts:

Beach or Pool Themed Layouts: Surf’s Up; Make a Splash; Making Waves; Bahama Mama; Shark Bait; Beach Babe; Summer Lovin’ and Pool Rules.

Baby Themed Layouts: Born to Be Wild; Diaper Duty; Got Milk?; Daddy’s Princess; Shake, Rattle and Roll; Go, Go, Grandma; Bottom’s Up.

Vacation Themed Layouts: Are We There Yet?; Cruisin’; All Aboard for Fun; Hawaii or Bust; The Reel Deal (for a fishing adventure); Let the Good Times Roll; and Thrills and Chills (for trips to the amusement park).

Food Themed Layouts: Grillin’ and Chillin’; Piece of Cake; Easy as Pie; Vegging Out; and Seasons Eatings.

Animal Themed Layouts: Monkeying Around; Hold Your Horses; I Toad You So; Grin and Bear It; Fur Babies; Licks of Love; Free as a Bird; and Santa Paws.
