This summer Logan and I desperately needed a vacation. We were planning on going on a little camping trip for a few days, but I wasn’t sure how to pull that off with just the two of us. Would I be able to get the tent up with the not so helpful help of a three year old? What if I couldn’t get a fire started? Would Logan be bored out of his mind just camping with Mom? Needless to say the camping trip didn’t happen. So we decided that we wanted to make the 14 hour drive to Oregon to visit my family. Now Logan and I have been working on potty training the last few months, that 14 hour drive just turned into about 18 with all the potty breaks we’d need to take along the way. Then what do we do if the car breaks down in the middle of nowhere and I knowing nothing about cars can’t do a thing about it! This little girl stuck in the middle of nowhere with a three year old, this trip is becoming to sound more and more intimidating the more I think about it. Alright so that plan is out of the question. The next was to go to Bear Lake, not quite as far away if the car breaks down, still lots of fun, but costs a ton of money to stay even for a day or two. Now as a single parent how in the world can you afford a vacation in the first place? Money is already so tight, how do you squeeze on more thing in? I don’t have any of the answers. We are in the same spot as the rest of you are.
There are so many more complications when you are trying to vacation on your own; so much more to worry about if something were to go wrong. I start classes again on Friday so it looks like our summer will come to an end vactionless. But hey maybe we’ll give the whole camping thing a shot anyways, might be fun to make some memories together even if it is a disaster!
