Special Needs Podcast Roundup – Week of April 16, 2012

mp3 player It is time, once again, for the Special Needs Podcast Roundup. This is where to find podcasts that focus on topics that are relevant to parents who have children with special needs. Some of them are podcasts that focus on one, specific, special need, while others will cover a broader range of topics.

Mayo Clinic has an episode that was released on April 12, 2012. This episode is called “Kids and Over-The-Counter Allergy Medications”. Mayo Clinic Dr. James Li talks about the use of OTC allergy medications in kids.

The Coffee Klatch released an episode on April 9, 2012. This episode is called “National Autism Association”. It features Wendy Fournier, President of the National Autism Association. The NAA has a Helping Hand Program that is a financial aid tool for families who have insurance plans that do not cover autism services, or families who are trying to pay for those services while uninsured.

The Coffee Klatch also released an episode on April 16, 2012. This episode features Alex Plank, a young man who has created WrongPlanet.net, and who has an active speaking schedule. Alex is currently working on a film documentary with his co-producer Noah Trevino about the terrible state of autism in France.

Special Chronicles released an episode on April 14, 2012. It is called “SpecialTalks 07: Best Buddies Talk”. This episode is a talk that Dan gave to a Best Buddies club at a local high school.

Hope Saves the Day released episode number 113 on April 9, 2012. This episode is called “Interview with Arthur Fleischmann Author of Carly’s Voice”. This episode features an interview with Arthur Fleischmann, as he talks about his daughter, Carly. She was diagnosed with severe autism and an oral motor condition that would prevent her from speaking when she was two years old. At age 10, she had a breakthrough.

Hope Saves the Day released episode number 114 on April 15, 2012. This episode is called “Day At The Children’s Institute in Verona NJ”. The hosts of the podcast got a first hand look at the wonderful program at the Children’s Institute in Verona, New Jersey. The episode features conversions with several of the staff of the Institute.

Need Project released an episode on April 14, 2012. This episode is called “J&F Family Retreats with Christine Hillesheim”. The episode features guest Christine Hillesheim who talks about Family Retreats from Joni and Friends. Each retreat is packed with exciting adventures for the whole family.
