microphone I found so many podcasts that discuss topics relevant to parents of special needs children this week, that I am not sure if they will all fit into this week’s Special Needs Podcast Roundup! There are episodes about ADHD, allergies, and more.

Podcasts about ADHD

Our Special Families released an episode on July 14, 2011. It is called: “Chat with Pam Esser of Attention Deficit Disorders Association”. Pam Esser discusses what the ADDA-SR is, and what it can offer parents of kids who have ADHD.

The Edge Foundation Podcast has an episode called: “ADHD and Legal Advocacy”. It was released on June 22, 2011. The Executive Director of the Foundation, Rob, speaks with Tara McGillicuddy about legal advocacy issues regarding ADHD.

Special Kid School Talk released an episode on July 15, 2011 called: “A Parent with ADHD Shares Her Story.” Dr. Kari interviews Nicky VanValkenburgh, a mom who has ADHD, (who is parenting two sons who also have ADHD). Her book is called “Train Your Brain, Transform Your Life: How to Conquer ADHD in 60 Days, Without Ritalin”.

The Mayo Clinic has a medical and health podcast. On July 13, 2011, they released an episode called: “Water Allergy”. Yes, it is possible for people to be allergic to water! Does your child have this allergy?

Dr Henry Ukpeh.com has a podcast. He released an episode on July 8, 2011, called: “Bug Bites That Swell – Is It an Allergy?” He will tell you what signs to watch for, and when you should take your child to the hospital.

Making Love in the Kitchen is a cooking podcast hosted by “nutritionista” Meghan Telpner. On June 22, 2011, she released episode 19, which is called: “The Peanut Allergy Epidemic”. Meghan’s guest is Heather Fraser, author of the book “The Peanut Allergy Epidemic”. She talks about the book, her research, and what allergic people can do to “empower themselves”.

Scoutmaster Podcast released an episode on July 4, 2011. This podcast usually focuses on “ideas, information, & inspiration for Scout Leaders”. This particular episode gives advice on how Scouts can help an autistic Scout whose parents don’t want anyone to know is autistic.

The podcast covers why weight gain is a big problem for the special needs community, toxic fat, stress, cortisol, medication, and motivation to make a change to a healthier lifestyle.

SRI podcast has an episode that was released July 18, 2011. Research Social Scientist Jennifer Yu discusses that each family that includes a child with disabilities will be affected differently, based on the particular disability. She has insights for parents.
