Sporty Scrapbooks

left

My local Hobby Lobby has reduced the price of gymnastics-themed scrapbook stickers by 30 percent. Could the sale be inspired by the American women’s gymnastics team bringing home team gold from London? Or, am I reading too much into it? After all, soccer, basketball, swimming and baseball-themed stickers remain at full-price.

The 2012 Summer Olympics may be over, but as I mentioned in a previous post, you can keep the good times rolling by creating layouts or entire memory albums using your future Olympian as the subject.

When crafting sports-themed scrapbooks you can incorporate several different elements into your page designs. For example, if your child plays a team sport, consider featuring the team’s colors or logo on the layout. In addition to using stickers, stamps or die cuts in shape of gymnasts, soccer players or various balls and other sports-related equipment, you could use generic embellishments, such as stars or medals to indicate that your young athlete is a champion regardless of his skill level.

Another way to spice up a sports-themed scrapbook layout is to include inspiring quotes that speak to an athlete’s stellar character traits, such as courage, patience, discipline and determination. Here are some to get you started:

“He that can have patience can have what he will.”—-Benjamin Franklin

“The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.”—-Barack Obama

“Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen.”—-Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Never give in, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense.”—-Winston Churchill

“It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.”—-Leonardo da Vinci
