Who cares about running with the bulls when you can pretend you are a secret agent in search of international fugitives?
Spain is getting a bit more intriguing for would-be super sleuths.
If you are more interested in spying on someone digging into a plate of pollo al ajo than you are in dining on it yourself then you don’t want to miss the opportunity to be one of the first to visit Spain’s newest amusement park—-Spyland.
The new adventure destination is being constructed as part of a major entertainment complex in the Zaragoza province of Spain, according to park designers. When it’s complete Spyland, will anchor a massive leisure complex called Gran Scala, which will include 32 casinos, four theme parks, several mega-hotels, hundreds of shops and other attractions.
Spyland is being marketed as a family-friendly attraction featuring dozens of rides and interactive activities based on the history of secret agents around the world. The park will be broken up into six zones, which guests move through as they play the role of spy, undertake missions, collect clues and infiltrate fictious borders, including a small water park called Aquantica. According to park designers, Spyland will be equipped with the latest spy technology and stunt shows will be based on the escapades of real spies.
Developers say they came up with the theme park idea after visiting the International Spy Museum in Washington D.C. That museum is an extremely popular tourist attraction in the United States. It has welcomed more than 3.5 million guests since it opened five years ago. Similar spy-themed attractions include the National Security Agency’s National Cryptologic Museum in Fort George Meade, Maryland, about 25 miles from Washington, and Moscow’s KGB Museum.
Construction on Spyland is scheduled to start in late 2008, and developers hope the project will be complete and open to the public sometime in 2010.
