As a self-proclaimed frugal scrapper, we are always looking for cheaper ways to do things. I do not stamp that much, but when I do, it is such a pain. It seems like it is just more trouble than it’s worth. Part of the problem is that I did not have a stamp pad to clean my stamps when I was done. So, half the time, I just left them dirty. I know! Gasps heard around the world! But, in all seriousness, my friend who has a ton of stamps showed me her stamp scrubber pad, and I was really jealous! Depending on where you buy them, or what size you choose, these can be expensive, so how about some other options?
1. Go to your local hardware store like Lowe’s or Home Depot and purchase a paint pad. These are less expensive, and are used to block around a surface such as a window. Spray some water, or cleaner on half of the paint pad, and leave the other half dry. Voila! You’ve got your stamp scrubber.
2. Another option is to use a nail brush. These can be used for the inks that are harder to get out!
3. Baby Wipes. Yep, this is a quick and easy way to clean those stamps. It tends to get a little messy, and can also be a little wasteful, but if you don’t stamp that often, it might be the perfect alternative. Be careful, because if used too often, it has been rumored to eat away at those stamps.
Be sure that you use cleaners that are safe for your stamps. Dish washing soap is a cheap alternative. I have also known people to use things like Simple Green. You may not see the immediate effect on your stamps, but it could do damage over time. While these are all great alternatives, the stamp pad isn’t so expensive that it is going to break the bank. So, if you use your stamps more often than I do, investing in a stamp pad might be the right idea!
